Since my last post...
I have yet to make my counselling appointment but, I still plan to :)I have just been taking baby steps with this knew way of thinking. Normally when I am going to try some new "lifestyle" or diet I go 150% all out and burn out on it immediately because its too much of an adjustment. This time around I have decided to just try to stick to my list from the last blog post. Its going quite well so far. I am still feeling mentally lighter from purging all of my diet paraphenalia :)
I decided to also get a part time job :S LOL. I dont NEED to work. Financialy it's not necessary. Over the last year (since my son started his full days at school) I have found myself getting more and more bored and lethargic.. kind of like a slug.. or a three toed sloth lol. I am talking inactive to the point that my joints were hurting. I felt like I was decaying. Unfortunately the only place in this small town that would hire me and work around such a restricted schedule is good ol' McD's! I only want to work during the hours that Joshua is at school which is pretty limiting. Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm. I figured it would be good to get me out of the house and force me to be on my feet for 4-5 hours rather than having my ass glued to my bed watching TV! Ironically though, working at McDonald's gives employees a 50% off food discount! DANGER LOL. I have worked for about a week and a half now and I have to admit it has been a blast! I worked at a different McDonald's 15 years ago for about 3 years so it all came back pretty quickly. I have hardly told anyone that I am working let alone that I am working THERE. I have to admit I was embarassed at first! The more I have thought about it I have realized there is nothign to be embarassed about. Its not like I am working there because I dont have the abiity or skill to work in a better paying field. I am a certified as a veterinary assistant and my last job was a 5 year position at a company in which I became management and led a staff of 5. I just wanted to work somewhere with flexible hours with minimal resposibility and now I am! It has been really nice to not be in charge of any staff, not have to make schedules or do payroll.. deal with the drama of issues between staff members and do damage control.. I just go to work, do my job and go home! Mindless fun! The people I work with seem great! I decided to challenge myself to not eat cheeseburgers or french fries or nuggets on my break (I am not going to lie.. I LOVE the garbage that is McDonalds food!) So far I have kicked ass! I have had 6 shifts and so far I have only ordered the chicken fajitas (200 calories, 5 grams of fat) and grilled chicken wraps. Instead of fries I have been eating apple slices.
I have been feeling great for the last week! My energy has increased, my mood has leveled out and I already feel less bloated! My clothes are fitting a bit more loosely which is ALWAYS a good thing! I havent weighed myself though! And I am not going to! I have been allowing myself treats and eating much less...stopping when Im full blah blah blah. The biggest difference is that I hardly think about it now other than right at meal time when I have to actually decide what to eat! Its been feeling great to not let food run my life! I am excited to work with the counsellor in the very near future!
This week we are supposed to have some better weather so I am going to try to get out and walk my 5k route a few times :)
Off to bed!
